We are thrilled to participate in Hereford Cathedral’s inaugural Medieval Festival, in partnership with the Hereford City BID.
On Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, 2026, the cathedral and its grounds will be transformed into a vibrant celebration of Medieval entertainment, craftsmanship, and history. People of all ages are invited to join in the festivities, featuring demonstrations and activities conducted by skilled re-enactors. In addition to archery, squire training, music, dancing, and historical exhibits, there will be themed food and craft stalls offering local products. For more details please follow this link.

Castle Green
Date: Friday 14th August and Saturday 15th August 2026 at 2pm.
Location: The Pavilion, Castle Green, Hereford, HR1 2NW
Duration: Approx 90 Minutes
Cost: Adults £7.50. Ages 6 – 17 £1
Maximum 15 people capacity
Is this the place where the story of our city began? Ancient religious site, front line military garrison and royal castle to rival the beauty and power of Windsor. We do not know all of what lies beneath our feet on Castle Green but we can tell you what we do know of this area of particular prominence during the Medieval period.
Today it’s a very pleasant place to stroll alongside the River Wye or enjoy the views of the river and meadows beyond, perhaps with a coffee from the beautiful Pavilion, Castle Green HR1 2NW what3words///plant.tiles.acted where our walk begins and ends.
Join us for a 90 minute stroll as we tell the stories of this site of important and turbulent historic interest, now a peaceful green gem at the heart of Hereford city.

Anglo Saxon Hereford
Date: Sunday 16th August 2026 @ 11am
Location: West Front of Hereford Cathedral,HR1 2NG
Duration: Approx 90 Minutes
Cost: Adults £7.50. Ages 6 – 17 £1
Maximum 15 people capacity
For 650 years after the Romans left Britain it was the Anglo Saxons who ruled much of the land. In the Kingdom of Mercia the small settlement of Hereford grew to become a key defensive outpost in the borderlands between England and Wales. Today the city is one of only five cities in England to be designated an Area of Archaeological Importance (AAI).
This walk will explore why by identifying some of the still visible traces of Anglo Saxon Hereford, and the histories they reveal of early Medieval Hereford
