The Hereford Military History Festival spans three days, honouring military history, literature, and heritage through engaging storytelling, informative talks, and dynamic panel discussions. Set in the historic city of Hereford, renowned for its rich military tradition and the legendary SAS, this festival unites esteemed authors, historians, and military specialists.
Designed to be family-friendly, the event features a military history fair showcasing vehicles and re-enactors.

The Civil War in Hereford 1642-1645
Date: Friday 25th September @ 2pm, Saturday 26th September @ 2pm and Sunday 27th September @ 11am
Location: The Old House Museum, Hightown, HR1 2AA
Duration: Approximatley 90 minutes
Cost: Adults £7.50. Ages 6 – 17 £1
Maximum 15 people capacity
Hereford, a royal garrison heavily armed and fortified during the Middle Ages, on the front line of the English defence of its border with Wales. Our shire was one of the first to declare for the King when Charles 1st raised his standard at Nottingham in 1642, plunging the country into civil war. The city changed hands more than once as the struggle between King and Parliament played out. Who were the key players locally? What happened in the city and what impact did the war have? This walk starts at The Old House Museum, Hightown HR1 2AA what3words ///sling.swim.waters and ends at the West Front of the Cathedral.
Tickets can be purchased online, via the link below or via the ticket desk within Hereford Cathedral before joining the walk. However, on Sunday’s the ticket desk is not open within the Cathedral.
