Daily Walks

Daily Walks - Start from the Cathedral

We plan to resume Daily Walks on Friday 29th March 2024. Daily walks will continue through to Thursday 31st October 2024. However, to avoid any disappointment, we recommend that you check our website before your visit to confirm Daily Walks are taking place.

Each walk will be led by a trained volunteer member of the Guild of Guides and is approximately one and a half hours duration. Start time is 11.30am except on Sundays when it is 2.30pm. The walks will commence outside the North Porch (Main Entrance) of the Cathedral.

You will need to purchase a ticket from the Cathedral shop prior to joining the walk (but on Sundays from the guide, not the shop. Cash only, as the Guide cannot accept card payments.) The charge is £6 per adult, £1 for accompanied children aged 6 - 12.

Please note that we can only allow Assistance Dogs on our walks.

Our daily walk can be fully accessible for wheelchair users, however, we recommend booking a bespoke walk to facilitate the best route for your needs. Please see our Booked Walks page and our FAQs Section.

Please join us to see Hereford’s interesting and historic buildings and other structures, hear about the history of the city through the ages from Saxon times, its role in the Civil War and its famous people.

You can find information about Hereford Cathedral (the Cathedral Church of St. Mary the Virgin and St. Ethelbert the King) here   including information about daily Cathedral Tours.

What our Customers Say

"I've never been to Hereford, so everything was new! We had a really interesting tour, over one bridge, alongside the river, and back across another, learning the history of the area as went. Our guide Hilary gave just the right amount of information to make the walk enjoyable without getting too detailed. A beautiful sunny autumn morning added to the tour! I would thoroughly recommend it 😊."

"Margaret, our guide, was excellent, giving us detailed information as we went. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk and meeting Margaret. Thank you. Carole"
Walker from Witney, UK Monday, 30 September 2024

"Our guide was absolutely super and was a terrific ambassador for Hereford and the guiding service for the city, she was very knowledgeable, took on board our questions ( whether specifically relevant or a little more random !) and was very good company for the duration of the tour ( around 90 minutes) - all accomplished in less than ideal rainy conditions."

"I want to point out how great was my guide Stephen. He was very, very patient with my level of English and incredibly interesting, even showed me drawings to explain better some points, endearing!! Highly recommended."

Walker from United Kingdom Saturday, 1 June 2024

"Really enjoyed the walk. I’ve lived here for a few years, but learnt so much today. Really interesting and the guide was welcoming and friendly. Great pace to be able to take it all in, ask questions and enjoy the experience. "
Walker from Hereford Sunday, 5 May 2024

"Please proof read your script above. You've spelt interesting incorrectly as "interisting"! It would have been helpful to have known in advance what the tour was going to involve. Angela took us along the river section but we had assumed we would be looking at historical sites encompassed in the city walk. We did enjoy the river walk but given the choice we probably would have chosen the city walk."
Walker from Colchester Sunday, 5 May 2024

"Interesting walk providing good overview of the history of the city. Covered all the main areas and the guide was very knowledgeable. Thank you"
